Snake Plant - Sansevieria Laurentii
A very hardy and low maintenance houseplant, they are very tolerant of occasional (unintentional) neglect! According to NASA it is one of the best plants for improving air quality, removing toxins such as formaldehyde, ammonia and carbon monoxide from the air, this makes it an ideal home and office plant. It has distinctive long upright leaves with yellow edges. Native to tropical West Africa from Nigeria east to the Congo. This plant is also known as Mother-in-law's tongue.

Light Requirements
Snake plants are highly adaptable and thrive in a range of lighting conditions. They do best in bright, indirect light but can tolerate low light or even some direct sunlight.

Watering
Allow the soil to dry out completely between watering. Water thoroughly, then let excess water drain away. In the winter, water even less frequently, as the plant's growth slows. Overwatering is the most common cause of problems.

Humidity
Snake plants are not fussy about humidity and can thrive in average household conditions. There's no need for extra misting.

Temperature
They prefer temperatures between 18°C and 27°C but can tolerate a range of conditions. Avoid exposing them to temperatures below 10°C or to sudden cold drafts.

Soil
Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a cactus or succulent compost. You can also mix regular potting compost with sand or perlite to improve drainage.

Feeding
During the growing season (spring and summer), feed every 1-2 months with a diluted cactus or succulent fertiliser. Avoid fertilising in the autumn and winter when the plant is dormant.

Pruning & Maintenance
Remove any damaged or yellowing leaves by cutting them at the base. Keep the leaves clean by wiping them gently with a damp cloth to remove dust.

Pests
Snake plants are generally pest-resistant but can occasionally attract spider mites, mealybugs, or scale. Treat any infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil. 

Repotting
Snake Plants prefer being slightly root-bound, so repot only when the roots are visibly overcrowded or the plant has outgrown its pot. Use a pot with drainage holes and fresh, well-draining soil.

Extra Tips
Snake Plants are incredibly low-maintenance and forgiving, making them perfect for beginners. They are also excellent air purifiers, so they're a great addition to any room. Just remember not to overwater, as they are drought-tolerant and dislike soggy soil.

If you'd like to return a living item, let the team know within 30 days by emailing hello@beardsanddaisies.co.uk or live chat if online. Please attach a photo of the faulty or damaged plant. Other items can be returned for a refund within 30 days as long as they're unused and in re-saleable condition.
