This is a fun houseplant with lovely lush green spiky leaves and a pineapple nestling in the middle! A real talking point. Tempted to take nibble? You could but a tropically grown fruit will be much sweeter! Part of the Bromeliad family, they are native to Brazil but now seen growing in tropical regions across the globe where they are cultivated for their delicious fruit.
Light conditions: indirect, bright light (for example not on a windowsill that gets direct sun at any point in the day). Direct light will scorch the leaves.
Neediness: This is a low maintenance houseplant. It will benefit from occasionally dusting the leaves to unblock its pores and rotating to ensure even growth.
Watering: wait until the top layer of soil is dry before watering. Do not over-water, soil should be moist and not soggy. Reduce the amount given during the winter months. As a rainforest native this plant will require regular misting to maintain humidity levels.
Ideal location: bedrooms, living rooms, bathrooms and kitchens
Rate of growth: slow.
Temperature: can be kept at a normal room temperature. Prefers being warm so never let the temperature drop below 15c.
Pets: this plant is toxic to cats and dogs. See our range of pet friendly plants if your pet is prone to nibbling.
Sizing: W12cm x H55cm
