The Red Chestnut has a South American heritage and is part of the Bromeliad family. You can't miss its striped leaves which have distinct red and white colouring. It's a tropical plant and very easy to care for, tolerating neglect - not that anyone could forget about this beauty!
This plant is an epiphyte, which means that despite its tendancy to grow on other plants, it doesn't harm them in the process. It doesn't have any roots so gets its nutrients though its leaves.
Keep this plant hydrated by watering into the well of its leaves as that is where it will drink from. Also, the more light the Red Chestnut recieves, the redder its leaves will go. Just don't scorch it with direct sunlight.
