Originating from South Africa, this plant can reach over 6 feet in height. The Strelitzia Reginae is easily recognisable for its orange flowers and it is so admired in its native home, that this plant appears on the South African 50 cent coin.
This plant is sometimes called The Crane Flower as the blooms resemble the head of a crane.
Don't be surprised or panic if its leaves split - in its native setting, this natural tearing of the leaves helped reduce drag in the wind.

Jo's Top Tip
The Strelitzia Reginae tends to grow tall and wide, so make sure you give it plenty of space to reach its full potiential. In summer, you could even put this plant outside for it to soak up some sunlight, just be careful it's not in the way of wind as this could damage its leaves.
