A very hardy and low maintenance houseplant, they are very tolerant of occasional (unintentional) neglect! According to NASA it is one of the best plants for improving air quality, removing toxins such as formaldehyde, ammonia and carbon monoxide from the air, this makes it an ideal home and office plant. It has distinctive long upright leaves with yellow edges. Native to tropical West Africa from Nigeria east to the Congo.
Light conditions position in a spot with indirect light. They are more tolerant of low light than other houseplants.
Neediness: super easy to care for. Remove dust with a damp cloth to unblock pores. This will help the plant breathe.
Watering: Wait until the top layer of soil is dry before watering gently. Do not over-water as they can be prone to root rot and reduce the amount given during the winter months.
Ideal location: bedrooms, living rooms, corridors and studies
Rate of growth: slow growing, rarely requires pruning
Temperature: keep at normal room temperature
Pets: this plant is toxic to cats and dogs.
